The best souvenir you can bring home from Madrid isn't in a shop
Magnets fade. T-shirts shrink. But a tattoo? That stays with you.
More and more travelers visiting Madrid are choosing to mark their trip in a permanent way — a small, elegant fine line tattoo that captures something real about the city, the culture, or simply the feeling of being here.
At Sinkply, around 30% of our clients are tourists. Some come in alone, some with friends, some as a group looking to share the experience. And the designs they choose say a lot about what Madrid means to them.
What do tourists usually get tattooed in Madrid?
Here's what we see most often — and what inspires us the most:
Madrid icons The Metro sign, the word "Madrid" itself, a Spanish fan (abanico), the map of Spain. Simple, clean, unmistakable.
Spanish culture A flamenco dancer, a carnation flower, a glass of sangría or tinto de verano, a classic tapa skewer. Things you experienced here, not just symbols you saw on a postcard.
Spanish phrases "No pasa nada." "Qué será será." "+34." Short expressions that carry a whole vibe — the laid-back, warm, live-for-today spirit that makes Madrid so hard to leave.
Personal souvenirs Some people come with their own idea — a date, a word, a small symbol that connects their trip to something personal. We love those too.
Caption suggestion: Some design ideas to inspire you — but we can adapt anything to your style.
Fine line: the perfect style for a souvenir tattoo
All our work at Sinkply is fine line. It's the ideal style for souvenir tattoos because:
Designs are small and elegant, never overdone
They heal beautifully with proper aftercare
They look refined, not touristy
You can get something meaningful in a short session
We work with clean, minimalist lines — the kind of tattoo that looks intentional and personal, not like something you picked from a wall.
Can I get a tattoo the same day?
Yes. We accept walk-ins depending on availability, but we always recommend booking in advance — especially if you have a specific design in mind or you're traveling with a group.
If you're coming as a group, get in touch beforehand so we can arrange the session properly and make sure everyone gets the time and attention they deserve.
How long does it take?
Most souvenir tattoos take between 30 minutes and 1 hour. Small, simple designs can be even quicker. We'll give you an honest estimate when you share your idea with us.
What about aftercare when I'm traveling?
Great question — and one we get a lot. We use a protective film patch (second skin) on every tattoo, which means you can go about your day, walk the city, and travel home without any problems. We'll give you everything you need and explain exactly how to care for it before you leave the studio.
Come visit us in Madrid
Whether you have a clear idea or just a feeling you want to capture, we're here to help you find the right design. Souvenir tattoos are one of our favorite things to do — because they mean something real to the person wearing them.
